Susan “Suzy” Herbert, MA, LMFT graduated from Antioch University in 2019 with a dual specialization in both Community Psychology and Trauma, is certified in Gestalt Experiential Therapy, and utilizes EFT in her work with couples and individuals struggling with generational, complex or vicarious trauma, addiction and relational dysfunction. Suzy most recently began working with victims of disaster and first responders.
For the past 20+ years, she has worked with women living with HIV/AIDS, women at risk of losing their children due to addiction, men and women struggling with substance abuse, the unhoused, and persons with severe mental illness. She made the decision to go to school as an older adult. "I wanted to have the skills necessary to truly be of service to other people who are struggling, just like I did."
Suzy believes we owe it to ourselves to do much more than just survive, being cast from one challenge to the next, without direction or choice. Her experiences have not only increased her resilience but have opened doors for her to take on new challenges (even the scary ones), to embrace the possibilities life presents and to seize new opportunities for personal growth. She recognizes the courage it takes to embark on this journey, and the importance of providing a safe, brave, judgment-free space to promote healing and growth.
